About two weeks ago I stopped visiting Engadget. After pointing out the double-standard attitude that Engadget had about their labelling MS' "censorship" in the Zune HD twitter app, and how Engadget will "censor" anybody that speaks out against them (while claiming they are not a Govt. entity, so it is not censorship), I was told by Nilay to leave. So I did. I was tired of the arrogance and ignorance towards us, your customers. This was the first time I have visited since then with this being the very first article I read, and after a quick look through the past few weeks of articles, it is obvious that arrogance and ignorance has not left - it even became worse. Your parent company, AOL, was once one of the biggest around, providing service to a large population of people. But their arrogance and ignorance brought them to to the state they are now, a footnote in history. And the attitude of the authors here, attack the customers, attack companies that are not your favorites, and praise every action of your favorites, will be your downfall. You have attacked specific posters for trying to ruin your little party. You have taken part in that laughable straw-man argument that we are all haters for disagreeing with anything Apple. The thing is, I watched your videos, and found it odd, you seemed genuinely just gadget geeks, teeling what you thought was good and bad about all products and I liked watching. But your writing is pathetic. As I have said before, I have a number of Apple propducts, and considering buying an iPad. We do not hate Apple, we want to read about the new things they are introducing, but hate the incessant circle-jerk for every little thing about Apple while you ignore other companies. A perfect example of this was a month ago, some one wrote that the Zune HD was dead because there has not been any news about it here on Engadget. There was plenty of news, but you just don't want to post it. Where were the articles about Paul Allen's ilness (I tipped you), but we read about Jobs' illness (it was news, and many of us wished him well). And on, and on, and on.

A year ago I left your biggest competitor and have not looked back. The time has come that I leave you also. It has been about 3 years - good years. But I, we, do not deserve to be treated like this. I will probably read through this article, but once it dies down, I will be removing you from favorites and searching for a new place. Maybe we will also do what you keep suggesting, starting our own blog, where all products are treated fairly and equally. But it has become obvious that you demand, and even require respect from us, but not willing to show any yourself towards us.

Just try to remember that old saying "the customer is always right"
@Nilay Patel

A little over year ago I was banned for simply saying that Engadget was not real journalism. I made some off-hand comment about "censorship". I was jumped all over by you (I may be a bit wrong here, not sure if it was you or Ryan - if I have the name wrong, my apologies) that you were not a government institution, and my claims of "censorship" were misplaced. I actually agreed with you (or Ryan) that it was not a place of government, so the term censorship did not apply. Which it is all that more funny when the writers around here throw around the term. Don't say you are censoring, but you can throw around the term without any problem whatsoever.

"Do as I say, not as I do"
@Bosco

"Censorship" is good hen it fits Engadget's agenda. Banning people for any criticism of Engadget - good. Other companies (actually, one specific company), and it is the most horrible form of "censorship" around.

The reason I put that word in quotes, is I said it once. Nilay jumped all over me, saying that they were not a government entity, and therefore it was not censorship. I agreed (I was using the word in the generic term), but when Engadget used it against a specific company, it is peprfectly fine use of the term.
@Smurf

If my car uses a traditional metal key or even a wireless key, I must be standing next to or very close (a few dozen feet) of my car to unlock it. If it is unlockable from the internet, then anyone anywhere in the world can hack my car and lock/unlock it. While being to remotely lock my car if it is stolen would be nice, it can still be abused.
@Jack

If it is compatible with the Mac, then why is Apple working on a software update to Boot Camp to support Windows 7: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3920

If Apple themselves say they are working on compatibility, then, while what is there may work, but Apple has decided it does not work as it should.

But, you know, I am too stoopid to be talking as gooder as yous, or somein.
@Jack

Ahhh yes, I am stupid because Apple promised me Win7 compatibility for Mac, and yet, they did not provide it. I am the stupid one for saying that Win7 compatibility is coming, when, obviously, it is not needed. I am the stupid one, for changing a document on the Apple web site, because when I did not meet the goal, I need to cover that up so I can save face.

No, I do not run Win7 on either of my Macs. I have dedicated PCs for that.

BTW, I did not give you permission to respond to me. You said you would ask first.
@Leicaman

You mean like working on Win7 bootcamp support they promised would be available by the first of the year? http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10423148-263.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20
@Jack

Who the fuck asked you?
@Othi

They can't just stop like that. I was getting worried something was wrong at Engadget HQ, being we had to wait this late in the day for our first bit of daily created out of thin air, made-up Apple advertisement. Make them not post Apple hype-machine info for a couple weeks, and I would start to think that we need to send out a search party.

But I felt OK once I realized that real news that had been confirmed(such as the Zune HD firmware update) had only taken 3 days to make it to the front page, even though I had "tipped" Engadget a couple times.
@PoisonWolf

This is like the manufactured "outrage" over the Zune HD Twitter "censorship". Engadget keeps bringing it up, while ignoring the real "censorship" with their favorite device.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a friend who's taken a job in a security field and the employer doesn't allow cameras on cellphones. He's currently happy with an iPhone 3GS and would definitely consider an Android device but is having trouble finding a decent phone with no camera. The only caveat is that for whatever reason he doesn't want a BlackBerry. Does anyone else make a decent smartphone sans camera? Thanks!"
