We won't front -- there's little chance we'd actually use
JXD's V3 handheld, but it's not for lack of interest. This here
PMP / game player hybrid isn't apt to leave the shores of Asia, but for those in that neck of the woods, this unit offers up emulators for a slew of game consoles, a 4.3-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera and plenty of file format support to handle your favorite music and video. Reportedly, the device even features an FM radio tuner, and in case you're curious as to why there are two D-pads on this thing, it's because you'll need 'em to get through certain Game Boy / NES titles. Or so they say. We can't say we're stoked about the $112 price tag, but in a way, we're kind of in love with the whole flip-top design.
Actually, this is pretty awesome!
The control buttons look almost exactly like the PSPGo arrangement.
@willhaley3000 haha. nice.
@willhaley3000 True!
@willhaley3000 Pause/Start and analog are in fact 100% identical
@willhaley3000
needs a second analog stick regardless if its only NES games XD
@willhaley3000
Crazy lol
don't the control pads look like the PSPGO's? but looks cool nonetheless.
I just ordered something similar a while back. I'm waiting for my mail lady to drop it off.
Looks pretty sweet imo, might get one imported!
the thing looks cool!
So its an emulator right? Does that mean that I still have to have the physical cartridge, or could I just...acquire the ROMs?
Either way, I'll pass. I'm not a "nostalgic gamer." Nothing against those who are, I just don't have the age behind me to warrant it. lol
@BigJayDogg3
Then think of it this way, consider it "Historical Research" into the history of video games. Play old NES and Atari 2600 games to see where console gaming started. Then move on up from there to the newer platforms.
FM RADIO TUNER!? AND ONLY $112!? SIGN ME UP!!!
Hmm, while the Pandora is a little more expensive, it appears to have a lot more functionality than this.
Set the price at $99.99 and I'm SOLD! All that for under a $100 would be the deal of the year.....so far.
@Eternity
Good News Everyone! If you are reading this in my voice, you can pick an 8GB version of this up for under $100 at focalprice!

Wow, the lips on the sides of that thing would really screw up your thumbs.
@BevansDesign
Exactly. If it's going to have them, they ought to be on the sides of the screen.
Its a strange design choice to have those raised edges on this sides, prevent it from being too easy to hold. Interesting device though, looks better than the majority of random devices that never leave Asia.
the raised sides will prevent people from pressing those buttons effectively
I've owned 2 JXD devices so far. The best thing about them in my opinion, is the nearly flawless playback of xvid videos. I can load up a tv show and be gone in under 30 seconds, no converting required
Manufacturing quality looks a little off, but other than that, it looks pretty nice.
"... in case you're curious as to why there are two D-pads on this thing, it's because you'll need 'em to get through certain Game Boy / NES titles. Or so they say."
I'm only seeing one D-pad, unless you're counting the face buttons or the analog nub as a second one.
