Sprint bringing on A9292 WiMAX phone from HTC?
HTC's produced a WiMAX phone in the past, so there's precedent to believe the rumors coming out today that Sprint will be picking up a so-called "A9292 WiMAX bar handset" from the company. PhoneArena appears to have secured some sort of inventory sheet showing the phone without any additional detail; for what it's worth, Sprint has been basically mum recently on its plans for taking its WiMAX network from data cards to handsets, but this seems to jibe with a recent rumor that the carrier's first 4G phone would be packing Android -- something HTC's pretty well acquainted with. Other than that, your guess is as good as ours on when this'll happen and exactly what form it'll take, but we can already say with a high degree confidence that we want one.

conflicting reports?

or does it just mean that this LG phone is not coming out until end of 2010?
Please please be true... Oh man, if so, DO want... SO SO hard...
You also have to take into consideration that this from Phone Arena. They dont fact check anything. You could draw a picture of a phone and send it to them saying its the next big thing and they would post it.
@Rockstar323
So true mate, so true indeed.
@Rockstar323
+1 Phone Arena does that in fact.
Well what do you know, maybe Sprint isn't trying to drive their company into the ground.
Hard to tell from that sheet without more info, but if the HTC phone is Android, wonder if the Touch Pro 2 will be the last WinMo phone we see until 7 comes out.
WiMax. Everywhere. NOW.
Seriously, how much longer is twenty-plus percent of the US going to be without broadband?
oh how I wish it were the touch hd2.... But it's already two knocks: no sprint (at the moment) and the hd2 will not be android equiped
Since it has "Bar" listed, does that mean no physical keyboard. I guess it's too soon to tell if this matches up with HTC leaked 2010 line-up. My wish = WiMAX + Android + Sense + Snapdragon
@cycler
EXACTLY what I was thinking... Kinda sounds like Sprint's getting a 4g N1. Since Tmobile&Verizon's getting it, I bet Sprint's just waiting for everyone to get it then bust out with a 4g one. Ha, Sprint owns.
@cycler
This would shake things up a little bit.
@ilguider
normally i would love that idea, i really would. but why would they wait until after everyone gets it? if i was sprint i would've said it while everyone was clamoring for it at CES. think about it, "omg the nexus one is coming! but wait wait! sprint is getting its own 4g version!" could you imagine how much pr sprint would get while also giving a good f u to tmobile and verizon at the same time? lol
..bout freakin time...
Finally some good news about Sprint even if its a rumor. Any information would be good right about now after that disappointing CES. HTC + Sprint WiMax = Win
WiMax is far more reliable in terms of consistent bandwidth...this would be a boon to Sprint, so long as the subscription price wasn't excessively higher than the current any-mobile everything rates.
@gerrrg
Sprint currenly offers 4G for only $10 more on the aircards (with unlimited data on 4G), so I figure it would be between free but no more than $10?
hd3 with wimax??
please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo, please let it be an HTC Bravo!!! LOL WHO KNOWS
Still waiting for android 2.0+ for my hero
Well, the rumor persists. If I dump my Pre, it will likely be for this phone, especially if they lose the 5gb data cap on the 4g plan and they allow tethering. Of course it might just be cooler to get the Overdrive MiFi with the 4g dataplan.
@PaulH
Sprint already has ALWAYS (on the 4G plans) offered unlimited data! the 5gb is only when your using 3G when 4G is not avalible!
Clear: No WiMax Smartphones Until End of 2010

hmmm a 4g n1 w/sense. sounds like they're getting one of my paychecks lol hopefully it comes out in the first half '10 :-D
as opposed to some earlier comments on this being a fake.. its not very likely that it is. given the other models on this sheet LG LN510 (rumor touch) LG LX610 (lotus elite) the boost versions of the new sprint prepay (incognito rant curve and sanyo3810) as well as the reclaim in grey..all of which is true (sprint employee).. my question is why is this WIMAX HTC "smartphone" on a list with all lower end phones.. notice the tour 2 (among others) not on this list but confirmed to be out q1-q2 2010 but the HTC on this list?
@Paul H.. to get unlimited 3g on sprint just get the 4G (69.99) plan and a u300 or u301 or overdrive and have the rep you work with put it in a chicago area code to get unlimited 3G/4G (if available)
@R V haha.. as long as you dont mind waiting until christmas
Based on the stunning lack of new phones released at CES I'm stunned anyone still has any hope Sprint will release any good phones in the near future.
As for what form it will take if most of Sprint's recent phone offerings are any indicator it will be bright red or pink, slow as molassas, and it will have a tiny screen, be as thick as a brick and will have a unicorn embossed on the back of a unicorn.
