Such a disappointing line of ipods, along side its poor release of iphone 3GS. iPod nano has the same shape as previous, ipod touch has the same shape as previous and so too does the iphone 3GS. Cost cutting me thinks... Such a boring year from apple!

Actually the mac department seems to be using a totally different marketing strategy and as such they are much more tolerable. Unfortunately, the ipod line of apple products is unbelievably disappointing this time around.

What a waste of an event, is Apple re-inventing boring launches. Am iPod with a camera, no touch with a camera because its a gaming platform, what a joke. I though MS was going to get blown away before the launch of the Zune HD, not anymore!
I agree... I really wanted a touch with a camera but it seems like that's NEVER going to happen. Too much like the iPhone I guess. =(

It happens ever Apple announcement, ive watched it for years. But in 2 months, all those commentators own the new products and the stock rebounds to new heights.
Its the cycle of Apple.

Yeah, last time around they were criticising the lack of app management. Before that, the lack of an FM radio.
Now the nanos have a radio, we all get app management, so those who held up the lack of those two reasons as "why iPods suck" will now surely say something positive ...
Ha! Of course they won't. They will simply pick another feature at random and say that the lack of that feature is the reason why iPods suck.
They are not serious about their criticism - if they were, they'd stop for a second and try to work out why 200 million consumers have bought this supposedly "sucky" product, and they might even realise the obvious truth that their idea of a "good" device is way out of step with what the vast majority of people think.
They're just trolls, and it is a day for the trolls.

SOME people complained about the lack of an FM radio but most made fun of those who were complaining that a radio is too lame and Apple would never do that. I think you're trying to find trolls where there are none.
I think it's kind of cute that the Nano got a bigger screen and FM radio exactly like the flash Zune.

Don't forget Quicktime, apple updater, ituneshelper.exe, ipodservice.exe, Applemobiledeviceservice.exe and maybe even safari.
There's highlights? That's was, ummmm, how shall we say? Sucky? And the best part is that boi and non-boi can agree on this.
That was the quickest podcast release for Apple in recent history. In the past, podcast recordings have taken usually a couple days, maybe even week or so, to make it to iTunes. Well we know the event wasn't recorded with an iPod Touch.

The iPod touch didn't get a camera because you're not ready for it. iPod nano buyers, on the other hand, are.

i duno bout you guys, but i would not call this a gaming rig. yeah it has some cute little apps that are fun to mess around with while in class or waiting for a train. but there only a notch above cell phone games.
what they should have done was, have the 8 and keep the 16 and lower the price even more, (20+ bucks) and then have the 32 and 64 gig with cameras and bumb the price a bit (30+ bucks) you create lower prices for your lower end, the ones that teens kids and casual music goers will buy, I.E. your major Game APP market. and you can justify those lower costs by the increase cost of the higher end models. becasue a person shelling out 299 and 399 for an ipod is not looking for a gaming device.
( they would get a PSP go PSP DSI ..ect for that kinda coin. )
the person who is going to pay 399 for an ipod touch wants the most tech packed into it as possible. Camera/video bluetooh, wifi, big Hardrive, so on and so on. and if they want to play games, so much the better. but give the higher end customer the chance.
and the logic! what the heck. thats saying saying Ford F150 is a great truck to haul heavy stuff. so were not going to put in a Radio

You forgot about ringtones, now available at a "breakthrough price" of $1.29.
Sure, I just use mp3s which cost me $0 to use as a ringtone, but then again, I don't have an iPhone.

It's not very hard to understand why Apple added a camera to the nano and not the touch. iPod nano is Apple's most successful iPod (product?) ever and will continue being so because of its price, physical size and design. Not to mention the long awaited FM radio that will make it even more desireable.
Because iPod touch with camera is more similar to iPhone.
