Generally speaking, Americans can count on the US price of any particular piece of kit being a fair bit less than the straight pound-to-dollar conversion. Unfortunately, the exchange rate here is nearly on point, with the
£299 NC10 10-inch netbook on sale for $480 (give or take a few nickles) in the US of A. Granted, it looks as if it'll be a fortnight or so at the very least before any Yanks can wrap their grimy paws around the
germ-shunning PC, but we've already got the e-tailers lining up to hold your place in line. Who knows -- maybe our version will come with built-in
WiMAX and 12-hours of battery life to really sweeten the deal.

I'll wait for of, then it'll be BETTER!
If this is released for £299, it will be the best value/money netbook here in the UK, Given that it comes with a 6-cell battery and 160GB HDD.
MSI Wind - 120GB HDD £328.65
Eee 1000H -80GB HDD £334.26
I can't wait for the this to come out.
Damn my job shutting down. If I had the money I would snatch this up black Friday or wait till Christmas
Dont you think the pic should be available while pre-order and the config. ??
Yea that is a bit odd, most of the time there is a display pic
CORRECTION:
you misspelled nickels in "give or take a few nickles"
stop being anal....
no ta bad price?
last time i checked....299 pounds was $600 american or a bit more.....
what exactly year is this article written in in where 299 pounds is $480? :)
um no
299 British pounds = 504.9213 U.S. dollars
shouldn't the comparison be with UK price without VAT (255) to USD? http://www.saveonsamsung.com/Samsung_NC10_451228.html
which would be about $435 USD.
Well £299 includes VAT, while $480 doesn't include tax. If you add tax to the item, say 5%, the price is $504 USD. If you were simply to convert £299 to US dollars, it would equal $509. So not a bad estimate by the writer.
not bad.
It has a good keyboard, which makes it better than the large majority of its competition already.
does anyone know any place in the US that has this laptop for preorder in black? right now i know that the US only gets blue and white, but i rather have the black. if now is there any UK site that ships to the US and how much would it cost.
You can get it here in black and have it shipped to the US:
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=175292
Minus VAT and plus shipping it comes out to: USD$439 (currency converted using google on 11/19/08)
I was gonna pick one up, but I dont like the small keys on the UK keyboard.
