Samsung 10-inch NC10 netbook fears germs, not Germans
Ho boy, what's this? Can it be that another vendor has introduced a laptop-cannibalizing 10-inch netbook? Oh, you betcha -- it's the occasionally seen NC10 from Samsung, sporting the same chunky design, heavy XP OS, 10.2-inch display, 6-cell battery, WiFi, Bluetooth, up to 160GB hard disk storage, and 1.6GHz Atom processor as just about every other 10-inch netbook on the market. So what does Samsung bring to the table that's truly unique? An anti-bacterial keyboard for germanophobes mysophobes, that's what. Available in Europe next month for an undisclosed price.

Now that looks Sexy. Make me want to buy.
Well unlike every other 10" netbook, this one comes standard with a 6 cell battery, and once again I hope and pray for the wonderful pricing that EEE701 had in Europe.
Now, after the specs are the same, the one with the cheapest price and best build quality wins.
I might be totally wrong, but this suggest a price of about 440€ and in stock(?) :)

Anti-bacterial products where it doesn't belong only increases antibiotic immunity by bacteria throughout the world.
I'm fairly certain that the keyboard doesn't use antibiotics to kill bacteria so how on Earth would this netbook lead to antibiotic resistant strains?
Antibacterial =/= antibiotic. Way to save the world.
Is this better than Acer Aspire one?

LOL, I just read Acer Aspirin One... damn anti-germ-thing
All of these companies joining the netbook game is great for us.... wait.... they DO realize that with the increased number of competing firms that we are gonna demand more competitive prices, right?
Payming more than $550 = paying too much for a netbook
Heavier than 2.5lbs = too heavy for a netbook
Less than 3hrs batt = shame on you
Hello editors,
Is this the 1940s and your only porn stash consists of ladies in petticoats?
I think this one has the best keyboard layout. Proper size left shift key (vs S10 or 1000H), std size peroid and slash keys (vs eee or wind). Have F1-12 (vs dell mini). Proper slide to scroll (vs wind) mouse pad but no mention of multi-touch support.
S10 has express card slot but I can live without it in exchange for the std 6 cell battery. I can't pick out a kensington lock hole from the photos but minor issue for what I use it for. Decent look as well!
All in all, if they don't frag up the pricing, this seems to be a winner for me! And lets hope the surface doesn't run as hot as the S10.
Considering you can open a Kensington with a biro and a peice of toilet roll tube, I wouldn't be too concerned about whether it has one or not. Just nail it to your desk instead.
The lock seems to be between the VGA-out and power button.
iLick keyboard, no?
uFail, yes.
1024x600?
Personally, I think gigabyte raised the bar on screen res with the M912, in only an 8.9.
I'd prefer a 10", but with a better panel. It cdertainly seems like all the manu's are going to wait until the second round until they start pushing up the specs a little. i can't see how a higher res would impact performance in any significant way.
Just sent Gigabyte an email talking about all the pro's that a 10" system would afford them over an 8.9 (price wise they could drop the hard drive size and no one would bitch to much)- they say then sent it to the R&D people.
If THAT makes it to announcement pretty soon, then I think the perfect design will be done and we can all go home.
The swivel touchscreen at the highend goes to gigabyte (PLEASE under $700-means another month of saving but...)
The "generic 10" however is still up in the air under $500 looks to be sweetspot now (6cell)
Yep, This is the reason why I havent bought a Netbook yet. Very little variety- I really cant do work on a 1024 x 600 screen. Is IS workable having played with a HP Mini Note I know I can handle the size.
At least Gigabyte showed some initiative and did something DIFFERENT. That being said, I eagerly await the 2nd generation of these devices.
I is gettin dis one.
Hey, a decent keyboard. Look, a full size right shift key!
